His Crimes: Reece's victim was severely beaten about the face and head, multiple times, with a weapon he brought with him. She was repeatedly raped. Dragged by her hair into her bedroom, she was forced onto her bed, face down, hogtied and strangled. Reece wasn't done with his brutal torture and plans to murder her. With a carving knife he grabbed from the victim's kitchen, Reece repeatedly stabbed her in the chest and slashed her face and neck numerous times. He retrieved his own weapon and again, repeatedly, bashed in her skull. After hiding her dead body on the far side of the bed, she gasped for air. Reece straddled her on the floor, suffocated her and left her for dead - "buried" under a pile of pillows and blankets from her own bed, in her own apartment, at 2:30 in the afternoon.
What The Judge Said: Judge James Carroll said, "If it were with in my power to prevent you from ever leaving prison, Mr. Reece, I would. In all my 40 + years as a prosecutor, attorney and judge, I have never been witness to so vile and horrible a crime."
What The Detective Said: Detective Larry Mason said, "When Mr. Reece left the victim's apartment, he thought she was dead....".
What His Cell mate Said: "Gary still states, that he didn't do the crime to this woman and that he'll get even. I can't believe that the victim, will not be safe after this denying monster is released...." Read the entire letter sent by his cell mate to the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center.
What Mr. Reece Said?NOTHING!!! That's right! He has never expressed any regret for his actions, never apologized to his victim or society. In fact, he has not accepted responsibility for his crimes.
To become a VICTIM, takes only a moment. To become a SURVIVOR, requires a lifetime. ~Kimberly J. Croft~
